Whale Tale - Sea Shepard has an impact

Either Sea Sheppard has an Ego the size of an Ice burg or Japan is giving up. What ever the case the fact remains ... Japan has brought an early end to their Whaling Season. This is good news from any angle.


The Japanese whaling industry on Friday announced that they were recalling their fleet from the Southern Ocean due to harassment by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Such a decision marks the first time that activists have been successful in cutting the hunting season short.
 
Naturally, members of the Sea Shepherd were thrilled - going so far as to declare the event VSO Day or Victory in the Southern Ocean Day.

WHALE activists yesterday celebrated what they hope is the end of whaling in the Antarctic following Japan's decision to pull out for the season under conservationist harassment.

Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun said the prospect of whalers returning to the Antarctic was ''extremely gloomy'', with most parties involved agreeing the industry was unsustainable.

If this is true there is hope for our planet after all, since the harassment then proven to out weigh the economical benefits from harvested ocean mammals. What impact this is going have on the quality of human life is a lesson still to be learned since disclosure by many companies on product ingredient is vague. What ever the scenario it has become time that humans do stock take on their Environmental foot print and face the music.
